Upgrading Fisheries Infrastructure and Services

Events

Driving innovation in aquaculture practices to meet the growing demand for seafood.

Dear Fishing Community Members,

The Ministry of Fisheries is committed to enhancing fisheries infrastructure and services to support the needs of our fishing communities and promote economic development in coastal areas. As part of this commitment, we are undertaking initiatives to upgrade key fisheries infrastructure and provide essential services to fishing communities across the country.

These initiatives include:

  • Investing in the construction and renovation of fishing harbors, landing sites, and fish processing facilities to improve operational efficiency and safety.

  • Expanding access to cold storage and ice-making facilities to extend the shelf life of fish products and reduce post-harvest losses.

  • Providing training and capacity-building programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of fishermen and fisherwomen in areas such as fish handling, quality control, and marketing.

  • Strengthening extension services and advisory support to assist fishing communities in adopting sustainable fishing practices and diversifying their livelihoods.

We are committed to working closely with fishing communities and stakeholders to ensure that these initiatives meet the needs and priorities of our coastal populations.

Thank you for your continued support and collaboration.
