Strengthening Coastal Surveillance Measures
Career
Empowering local fisherfolk with training programs and access to modern fishing technologies.
The Ministry of Fisheries is pleased to announce the implementation of enhanced coastal surveillance measures to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing activities in our territorial waters. Illegal fishing poses a grave threat to the sustainability of our marine resources and the livelihoods of our coastal communities. Therefore, it is imperative that we take proactive steps to prevent and deter such activities.
Through this initiative, the Ministry will deploy state-of-the-art surveillance technology, including radar systems, satellite monitoring, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), to monitor fishing activities along our coastlines. Additionally, we will collaborate closely with law enforcement agencies to strengthen enforcement efforts and ensure swift action against perpetrators of illegal fishing.
Furthermore, we encourage the active participation of coastal communities, fishing associations, and other stakeholders in reporting any suspicious or illegal fishing activities to the authorities. Your vigilance and cooperation are invaluable in safeguarding our marine ecosystems and preserving the sustainability of our fisheries.
Together, let us work tirelessly to protect our oceans and secure a prosperous future for generations to come.
